Wilkinson and Munro dominate Ocean Swim
Victorian Oliver Wilkson and local surf lifesaver Hannah Munro captured the "daily double" in Saturday's Sovereign Hills Ocean Swim at Flynns Beach, Port Macquarie.

Wilkinson, who swam the English Channel in 2009, proved too strong in both the 500m and 1km events.

He registered seven minutes and 24 seconds to complete the 500m course, with Daniel Thompson clocking 7.53 and Chris Turnham recording 8.05.

Wilkinson then backed up with 17 minutes and 40 seconds in claiming the 1km title.

Thompson produced a 19.01 burst and Turnham secured 19.24.

Munro, meanwhile, held off a strong challenge from Port Macquarie's "swim queen" Carolyn Turnham in the women's division.

The youngster wrapped up the 500m crown, following a good time of nine minutes and 12 seconds. Turnham finished second, 44 seconds in arrears.

Munro repeated the dose in the 1km, turning in a sizzling 19.40. Again Turnham snared the runner-up's spot with 19.56.

"It was a top day, with 140 swimmers", said race organiser Jade Zaicew, from the Port Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club. "The tough conditions slowed competitors but, overall, we were thrilled with the event."
