St. Joseph's Regional College

In February 2009 the all new St Joseph's Regional College opened its doors with first class facilities and resources on a beautiful site in Sovereign Hills. The master plan is for a Year 7 - 12 school with a maximum enrolment of 1200 students. The new school opened with a Year 7 - 10 enrolment of 670 students and Years 11 and 12 will be added in 2010/11.

St Joseph's Regional College boasts some of the finest creative and performing arts facilities in the area. A 200 seat tiered theatre is the feature of the specially designed crreative and performing arts centre, dubbed CAPA. The two storey building will be completed with visual arts workshops, two music rooms, three practice rooms, a drama room, a dance studio and a multi-media room. The centre will also have its own canteen and amenities so that it can be used for practices and performances out of hours.

Sporting facilities at St Joseph's Regional College cater for volleyball, badminton, netball, gymnastics and more. The school aims to cater for all sporting strengths and interests. A range of modern indoor and outdoor sporting arenas have been incorporated into the new school designs.

A central auditorium with its full-size basketball court will host the indoor sports and a gym will be added to the fitness block to complement the facility. Outdoors, students will find basketball courts, netball courts, cricket nets and further down the track, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Two of the three ovals have been laser leveled with subsoil drainage and irrigation to handle any weather conditions the Port Macquarie climate throws at them.

One of the most distinctive areas at the new St Joseph's Regional College is the outdoor assembly area. Built to a circular design it has the capacity to accommodate the entire school for special outdoor assemblies and educational demonstrations and lectures.
