Sovereign Hills Delivers $12 Million Sporting Fields Investment for Growing Community

A major milestone for the Sovereign Hills community is set to deliver vital sporting infrastructure with construction of the Thrumster Regional Sporting Fields scheduled to begin in late 2025.

Following unanimous adoption of the Sovereign Hills Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council at their August 21 meeting, the development marks significant progress for a project first envisioned in 2008.

Trent Kelly, Senior Development Manager at Sovereign Hills, said the adoption of the VPA represents a "fantastic milestone" for the community.

"We're thrilled to see this vision become reality and deliver outstanding sporting infrastructure for the community," Mr Kelly said.

"Lewis Land has provided the engineered foundation and access infrastructure for the Thrumster Sporting Fields, while Council will create the world-class playing surfaces and clubhouse – it's a true partnership."

The sporting fields, located on College Drive in Thrumster, will be transferred to Council management from October, allowing the vital community project to progress to its next stage.

Stage 1 of the development includes two standard soccer fields that integrate a community cricket oval and synthetic cricket pitch, along with landscaped access and shared-use walkways, carparking, pedestrian footpaths, and a temporary amenities building.

Mr Kelly emphasized that the $12 million District Sporting Fields foundation works form part of Sovereign Hills' broader $36 million community infrastructure investment.

Football Mid North Coast General Manager Phillip Andrews welcomed the development, saying the two fields will be "greatly appreciated by Football Mid North Coast and the wider football community."

Construction of Stage 1 is scheduled for late 2025, with completion expected by March 2027.

The completed project is planned to include multi-use premier level sporting fields, synthetic playing fields, car parking, field irrigation, access roads, lighting, landscaping, spectator mounds, a clubhouse and an amenities building complete with a grandstand.
